Donkey Kong: Country
-
When Donkey Kong Country was first unveiled, many thought is was a game running on the next generation software after the SNES. So imagine the impact it had when we all discovered that these sublime graphics were being milked from the aging SNES! Even though many years have passed since then, DC Country still shines visually, sonically and still poses a great challenge to any platform game fan. The graphics look astounding. The chracters are beautiful rendered in 3D, as are all the levels. I remember being amazed when I reached the snow levels, where you can actually see a snow storm building up in the background and before you know it your in the thick of it....magical. I truly was compelled to play this just to see what the next level looked like! But playing it now, I can fully appreciate how much effort Rare put into all other aspects of this game. The sound for example is excellent. From the congo drums in the jungle to the beautifully soothing score used in the underwater levels. And the game is a joy to play. Challenging, peppered with mini-games, and numerous bosses to defeat kept me asking for more. Kranky Kong always made me laugh with his comments, but today they seem ironic as he boasts about "back in my day we had none of thess 256 colours! We had to make do with black and white!" This really did push the SNES to it's limits, and is definetly worth a look. Give it a try, you won't be disappointed. A classic without question.Download…
