PSPGo

Set to be released for retail purchase on October 31 is the brand new PSP Go. Other than the obvious change of the physical appearance of the PSP, the entire way the PSP functions has been changed. The new PSP Go does not use the UMD format, since a UMD drive was excluded. Instead, games and other media will be available via digital download. That's right you'll connect using a WiFi connection and simply download games onto your PSP Go's 16 GB internal flash memory, or onto a memory stick micro flash card. Don't worry Sony won't discontinue the older PSP 3000, for those that think the new PSP will be a waste.
Some other changes have been made, such as using a smaller LCD screen (seems like a down grade to me), going from a 4.3" 480×272 pixel LCD to a 3.8" 480×272 LCD on the PSP Go. The unit is said to be smaller and lighter by percentages, and also a non-removable non-replaceable battery. The PSP Go also features Bluetooth connectivity, which enables you to use a Bluetooth headset.
Also on the same day Sony will release a new section on the PlayStation Store for PSP owners, the Minis Section. This section will include 15 confirmed games (under 100 MB), and will be expected to reach 50 games before the end of 2009. Expected titles include: Tetris, Fieldrunners, Minigore, Puzzle Scape, Alien Havoc, Sudoku, Pac-Man Championship Edition, Burn Zombie Burn 2D, Funky Punch, BreakQuest, MelodyBloxx, Hero of Sparta, and Championship Manager.
So for anyone who was interested in getting a PSP think carefully which interests you more, the older 3000 or the brand new PSP Go. Both have their flaws and advantages of course. With a price of $249 compared to the older 3000's $169 though the PSP Go doesn't seem to have enough enticing features. Even the sliding controls seem like they'd get annoying fast, and honestly the older PSP style seems a lot more comfortable. But compact is the name of the game.
