Assassins Creed

Assassin's Creed is an Action-adventure game released for the Playstation 3, Xbox 360, and for Windows. I got mine for the 360, so I'll be reviewing the 360 version of course. Overall the game was magnificent for what I wanted, an adventure type game where I get to throw a sword around and kill people. There's also a few other typical things you'd expect from an adventure game set in the past, riding a horse, traveling to different historical cities, and using some sort of time machine (called the Animus, built by a giant corporation called Abstergo Industries) to go into the past. The game has some excellent aspects such as the amazing graphics, crazy music and anthems (seriously the chase music is unreal), running from soldiers, jumping into...hay stacks...and ugh climbing huge ass buildings and jumping off =| ? Quite excellent yes...

A few things that instantly bugged me within my first few hours of playing. For one I got tired of the lack of objectives. Seemed QUITE repetitive even within the first few hours. The game is pretty damn repetitive and lacks different objective. All I'm saying, is the game is pretty repetitive. I would've liked to see a field instead of WARPING to your destinations. It was pretty back and forth and I must say, pretty repetitive. I did enjoy comparing the different cities and how different the people around you act. If the game wasn't so repetitive and actually had different objectives /side objectives (viewpoints anyone) it could be considered a more-than-decent adventure game. I don't know, I just hope for the second game they think of different objectives, sorry if this seems repetitive :^).

Assassin's Creed places you into the past, but not as one would expect! Actually the game is taken place in the year 2012. The main character is Demond Miles, some normal dude who looks a lot like Adam Sandler. Not what you expected either eh? Now the storyline seems like it consists two different stories, one of the past and the present. But I found the story line lacking. So for those looking for a STORE E LINE should look elsewhere (really, who cares about storylines anymore?) This game kicks ass in so many other ways (okay, only a few but hear me out). Trust me I love being surrounded by 10+ guards and gutting them down ONE BY ONE. Maybe I'm easy to satisfy but the battle system was unlike any other I've played. The counter system works very well. The battle system uses a wide variety of tactics (counter, kicks, assassinations). But you'll remember them easily in the midst of battle! The chasing aspect of the game is also exciting. Imagine being chased by guards with a huge group of (innocent) people around you. But always remember the assassin creed! Harm only the guilty, and never the innocent (or something like that). Instead you have to trick them by running up walls or hiding in hay stacks.

For those that like to play games with a more realistic feel to them, intense graphics and all that, this is definitely worth looking at. Top notch graphics, every damn second looks like a cut scene. The physics of the game are also so realistic feeling it's EERIE. Very easy to maneuver through large crowds in order to escape from the ruthless (but TERRIBLY easy) guards/soldiers. Not to mention the chase music is GLORIOUS. The entire game is full of dark tunes and anthems, which suits the game's atmosphere very well.

All in all Assassin's Creed has many ups and downs. Not enough change in objectives (really, it seems quite REPETITIVE doing the same shit over and over) makes it seem quite repetitive. But it makes up with an kickass battle system, unreal (actually quite real!) graphics, intense music, and a 3D Adam Sandler (why? I don't know!). What's my conclusion?: good game, do I recommend it? Yeah I do if you're not looking for a 'true' adventure game. Because the only interesting aspects doesn't involve the story or even the quests/objectives. Surprisingly, what makes Assassin's Creed FUN is the climbing, the chasing, the battle system, and simply going around killing people with a sword. For those that prefer a more fast paced style of adventure game, and for those that prefer adventure games with more in-depth (come on did they pull this out of their asses?) story may have to look elsewhere. All in all good fun and I can't wait to play the 2nd installment of the Assassin's Creed series, which I definitely am looking forward too. GOT IT? GET IT? GOOD.
